The continuous globalization of world economies has led to an expansion of real estate investments, across borders. Since the start of ″Abenomics″, Japan's real estate market has seen inflows of cross border capital, whilst at the same time, Japanese investors have turned to overseas property markets, seeking for diversification and new opportunities.
The importance of risk management is ever more crucial, as an adverse event in one country may trigger a chain of impact to other markets. Also, streamlining cross-border transactions and consideration towards market sustainability is equally important. As for Japan, it is important to promote a shift ″from savings to investment″, through the provision of fair investment opportunities, in order to prepare for an aging society.
With the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for the following year, the Forum aims to help both domestic and overseas market participants improve their mutual understanding, gain insights into trends in the international real estate markets, whilst discussing their respective roles in addressing these issues.
